Meet the Convener
Lekan Biliamin Oba
Forward Lagos is convened by Lekan Biliamin Oba, a public servant, civic leader, and author whose work has consistently centred on building institutions that create lasting value.
Across public service, youth leadership, and civic engagement, Lekan has championed initiatives that strengthen participation, expand opportunity, and encourage long-term thinking.
His approach is guided by a simple belief:
"I don't believe in change as an event. I believe in change as a system, something we build rung by rung, until everyone has a place to stand."
That philosophy has shaped every stage of his journey, from leading youth development initiatives to serving as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Lagos State. It also inspired the creation of Forward Lagos, a platform designed to encourage more meaningful citizen participation and contribute to a stronger future for the state.
Lekan is the author of One Rung at a Time: Echoes from the Ladder of Becoming, a leadership book that reflects his belief that lasting impact is built deliberately, one step, one institution, and one generation at a time.
